[october 3rd, 2014] The Rafale M3 (last of the Rafale M F1 which weres stored at Landivisiau air base), is starting its retrofit to the F3 standard.

The first to be retrofited, the M10 was delivered to the French Navy last October. According to the pictures of the plane, it was fitted with a PESA radar and its original missile warning System (ie, not the DDM-NG)

The last of the Rafale which will be retrofited is the M1, currently being used by the French flight test center(CEV)at the Istres Air base.

  3. Yes, it certainly looks like the Rafale's stock in sinking in the Indian MMRCA deal and Dassault has only itself to blame for this. It's no use crying foul about the terms of the RFP now when Dassault knew fully well what the terms and conditions of the RFP were before submitting their bid. What were they expecting - that the Indians would cave in and surrender and relax the terms of the RFP after they won the bid ???

Just picked up more comments from the new Indian Defence Minister who has been all over Dassault on the systematic and despicable back tracking of Dassault on the terms of the RFP and how the IAF can live without the Rafale by inproving availability and serviceability of the Sukhoi MKIs by developing expertise in servicing and upgrading the MKIs in-house at Hindustan Aeronautics Nasik MRO facility.
